Makanda Trading Co. was created in 2000 as a partnership after one year it became a sole proprietorship owned and operated by Brian Beverly. MTC is an international store, carrying items such as silver jewelry, incense, rocks and mineral samples, beads and home decor. MTC has two major goals in operation. First and foremost is to promote fair trade among all countries, people and organizations in every day business. I personally travel to Mexico and Guatemala and I always make sure the items I purchase are created by independent producers.

Makanda Trading Co. also matches all donations received. This money will be used to feed and cloth poor street children in Mexico.

The second goal of MTC is to bring variety and choice to Southern Illinois. In a world of increasingly limited retail options due to mega marts, MTC brings back the small business attitude and personal touch that has faded in recent years. Small business allows for options and choices that mega marts do not offer. Choice is back in the hands of the consumer.
